TRAILS & VISTAS ANNOUNCES Celebrating 20 years of Art Hikes Truckee, CA — Described as magical, joyful, diverse and inspiring, Trails & Vistas’ Art Hikes blend art experiences with the beauty of being immersed in nature. Featuring award-winning musicians, dancers, and installation artists working with this year’s theme The Space Between to offer moments of awe and wonder. This is an invitation to unplug and create sensory experiences within nature connecting us with nature through the arts.
Tour guides will take participants on a journey that will resonate deeply in one’s soul visiting seven site-specific art installations.
The Art Hikes start at the centerpiece of Spooner Lake’s new welcoming area with the new Visitor Center and outdoor amphitheater and walk along a 2.5 mile hiking trail through meadows and Aspen groves. We respectfully acknowledge that we walk on the unceded land of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. Spooner Lake is a portal to more than sixty miles of paths and trails in the Sierra Nevada wilderness.
The Music: A Cross Section of Cultural Paths
On Saturday, June 24, drum beats will resonate in your soul with the Tsurunokai Taiko Drums Ensemble. On Sunday, June 25, enjoy an immersive experience of sound healing with Jennie Pitts Knipe and Paula Smith.
Theme: The Space Between
Trails & Vistas Art Hike is a natural bridge creating an experience in the environment through the arts that enhance our senses. The Art Hike bridges the space between us and the natural world.
